Hi, I’m Karen – thanks for visiting! I’m an artsy / craftsy / busy (!) girl living in Alaska. I originally started this blog in October 2007 as a challenge to myself to be more creatively productive on a daily basis and as a place to show friends what new creative things I’m up to.

In January 2010, at 41 years old, I enrolled in college to begin the long journey of earning first my undergrad, then my masters. I majored in psychology with the long-term goal of becoming a counselor in private practice. It’s now 8 years later and I am just finishing up my master’s degree and set to open my practice in May of 2018 (find my practice at

The creative side of my life is still very important to me, but because I was working full time while also going to school full time – I ran out of hours in the day to be crafty! Consequently, my blogging slooowed down. Once I graduate and have a few more free hours in my day, I will certainly pick up my creative habits again, and I might resume blogging. But either way, I like having this nearly 7 years of my creative life memorialized here. Hope you enjoy it and maybe find a little creative inspiration for your own crafty pursuits.

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."
